1 Project description
Scope of project
– The Balancing Reserves Procurement Platform provides the services for the procurement of FCR,
aFRR capacity and mFFR capacity, aFRR energy and mFRR energy, as well as ABLA (interuptable
loads) to TSOs.

Drivers of project initiative
– Insourcing of critical software delivery processes until the end of 2024.
– Take-over of the critical software delivery tool stack management, configuration and operation by a
DevOps expert
– Reduction of software delivery risks by realizing domain-driven product separation and introduc-ing
suitable CI/CD patterns, Change service delivery models towards a product oriented organisation.
Alignment and harmonization with centralized DevOps processes (from status quo towards a fu-ture vision).
2 Tasks / Activity description
TMD Senior DevOps Engineering for a critical on-premise application platform DevOps tool stack.
The external contractor will take over the following project related tasks, which will be executed
independently:
– Designing, configuring, documenting, and operating of complex build, test and deployment pro-cesses and release pipelines at all levels
– Configuring, managing, and operating all non-productive deployment environments
– Providing qualified support and extensive training for configuring, managing, and operating all
productive deployment environments and tooling
– Designing, developing and implementing state-of-the-art continuous integration and delivery
processes (CI/CD) for efficient Product development, testing and roll-out at all levels across all
platform domains
– Collaborating with Product teams to define, verify and align the requirements for changing CI/CD
processes
– Defining, aligning, implementing, and training DevOps good practices
– Providing operational support (9×5) for troubleshooting build, deployment, infrastructure, and CI/CD issues
– Coaching and training of team members on build, test and deployment processes and pipelines,
DevOps technology stacks and DevOps practices to ensure common standards and knowledge
sharing within and across teams.
3 Goal
Targets and Milestones
– Take-over all DevOps tasks for the software delivery processes for the on-premise application
platform until end of 2024
– Take-over of the software delivery tool stack management, configuration and operation until end of
2024
– Take-over the management of all deployment pipelines and application-lifecycle-management tools
operation and support until end of 2024
– Change of the application platforms service delivery processes towards a product-oriented
organization until Q3/2025
– Alignment and harmonization with centralized DevOps-processes within the group until Q1/2026
4 Profile requirements
General profile requirements
– Profound knowledge and experience with Atlassian-based on-premise DevOps tool chains
– Profound understanding of test, build, and deployment concepts for complex microservice-oriented
Java application platforms
– Experience in changing and updating mission-critical application environments
– Experience in coordinating and planning of infrastructure- and network-changes across security
boundaries
– Proficiency to execute testing and analysis of test results
– Experience in DevOps scripting and Build Agent management
– Experience in IT provider management, IT monitoring and IT operations management
– Ability and willingness to work in Agile team setups (SCRUM)
Must haves:
– Ops (10+ years) experience working with Java application services and servers
– DevOps (5+ years) experience with: CI/CD, Git, Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Nexus
– Deploy (3+ years) experience with Octopus Deploy (or comparable Products)
– Profound experience in DevOps practices working with Java, Spring Boot, Microservice-oriented
architectures (on Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
– Profound experience in Shell scripting (for Windows PowerShell & Linux)
– Language skills: English (C1) and German (B2) are necessary
Should haves:
– DevOps experience also with: Splunk, PRTG, Camunda Cockpit, Hazelcast Management Center,
Chocolatey, Spring Boot Admin, SonarQube, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Backstage.io
– Open for new ideas and continuous improvement and DevOps-centric passion for learning and
growing within an agile team
