EL241010P5A1: Freelance – Commercial Performance Analyst (Brussels, remote 60%, 12 months, ASAP)

        Our client plays a major role in the Belgian and European energy landscape, building sustainable, green and reliable energy infrastructure. The company is seeking freelancers to work remotely and locally on various national and international projects.

        Main tasks:

        Performance Analysis:

        • Monitor the correct execution of the day-to-day commercial processes and proactively identify and react on potential problems.

        • Conduct in-depth analysis of NLL’s commercial performance metrics (e.g. value capture, revenue per product, customer bidding behaviour,…).

        • Identify areas for improvement and provide actionable insights that could lead to enhanced commercial performance.

        • Perform competitive benchmarking.

        • Validate NLL’s monthly sales invoices.

        Financial – Business Modelling:

        • Develop and maintain financial models to support revenue forecasting, budgeting, and scenario analysis.

        • Provide financial insights to support commercial negotiations and decision-making related to auction strategy, new products, ancillary service tenders…).

        Reporting and data warehouse:

        • Prepare and deliver regular reports on commercial performance and relevant market information to internal stakeholders (e.g. Management Committee, Board of Directors…).

        • Deliver the recurring external reports (e.g. imbalance reporting)

        • Provide finance with the monthly revenue forecasts.

        • Provide ad-hoc reporting on the results of important auctions.

        • Act as Product Owner of NLL’s Commercial Data Warehouse and NLL’s Revenue Forecasting tool.

        Support or lead on ad-hoc projects:

        • Assist with the development and implementation of new products/services.

        • Assist with the annual auction calendar creation.

        • Assist with replies to market consultations.

        • Assist with market coupling related projects (e.g. MRLVC, price coupling…)

        • Assist with Net Zero related projects (e.g. GO procurement, annual CO2 reporting..) …

        Requirements:

        • Proven experience in commercial analysis, financial modelling or a related field within the energy sector.

        • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.

        • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI).

        • Capabilities/experience in or willingness to learn SQL/Python

        • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

        • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to synthesize complex information.

        • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

        • Familiarity with agile development (for our Data Warehouse project)

        Qualifications:

        • Master degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or a related field

        • Demonstrated written/oral fluency in English

        – Volume: Approx. 100% (5 days/w)

        – Work Location: Brussels, remote 60%
